Frequently asked questions about Faxing:

What is it and why do we still do it?
Faxing is a slang term that has evolved from the word 'facsimile', ie a copy. It is the process of instantly sending a copy of a paper document to someone else via a telephone line. It's a service we all thought initially would be obsolete as computer use exploded, but the fact is, it remains a very useful tool in today's modern world and probably will remain so for some time. Most commonly, people fax timesheets, contracts and various paper proofs required for instituations such as financial companies.

How much does it cost?
We'll charge you for each page that we send for you and whether it's national or international. The full price list is as follows:

National:
£1.00 for the first page, £0.50 for each following page.
Example: A three page document to Manchester would cost £2.00

International:
£1.50 for the first page, £0.75 for each following page.
Example: A five page document to India would cost £4.50

What do I need to come prepared with?
Faxing can be fiddly and sometimes very time consuming. We'll always do the best we can to help, but we ask that you come prepared with your fax written out and the number it's going to which you have confirmed to yourself as correct. The most common cause of delay is when the number doesn't exist or a fax doesn't answer. If there is a problem like this, we will inform you and return your fax. There will be no charge for faxes not completed under these circumstances.

What else should I bear in mind?
We will provide you with a fax receipt as standard, but we will explain in advance if this is not possible for some reason and give you the option whether to proceed as the machine will still confirm to us whether it's gone correctly or not.
We no longer provide a fax receiving service due to being overwhelmed with junk faxes!
There is, technically, no upper limit for the size of a fax being sent. Experience tells us, however, that about 40 pages is the comfortable maximum. Further pages can be sent in a separate fax and charged accordingly.
Please note that we wil always help where we can where numbers are not answering. However, we cannot provide access to our phone facilities (other than via our payphones) to contact the recipients.

Are any numbers you WON'T fax to?
We will not fax to any premium rate number under any circumstances. This is any number than begins 090, 091 or 098. For a full list of these premium rate numbers, click here. (This will open an excel spreadsheet hosted at OFCOM. Alternatively, a non-downloading summary of numbers is located here)
